"Paris! Paris ultrajada! Paris dominada! Paris martirizada!

Dessa insurreição fazem parte as brigadas espanholas.

Perdemos a identidade. Como tal, fico assim, sem saber de onde sou, "a citizen of the world".

"All that noise and all that sound"

The very first song. I remember coming home after finding out that coldplay was one of your favorite bands. I asked my uncle if he had any coldplay's album. He did. This was the very first song I heard from the band, and the one I always relate to you. Back then, I kept singing it, "how long before I get in? Before it starts, before it begin? How long before you decide?"
"Look up, look up at the night". This song reminds me of every moment, every detail. Every star and every kiss. All the nights, all the afternoons. I guess pizza comes next? Maybe looking up at the sky trying to find a falling star? Maybe cuddling on the couch and watching a movie?

One of the best unplugged I've heard

"So when the sun goes down, and the nights grow colder i will be there(..) the stronger the love the deeper the emotion"...

Odeio a poesia e a tradição, odeio o wireless e o modern design. Venha a madeira, venha o papel.
Fui ficando no meu cais. Tu subis-te o cais choras-te a meu lado.
Amas-me não é? Sinto-me mais confiante agora.

The bard's Songs

When you've got an almost perfect ballad you don't really need to sing it right? The crowd does it for you. Blind Guardian is a metal band whose songs are about mythological themes (among others).

This is my favorite song of theirs.

 Now you all know
The bards and their songs
When hours have gone by
I'll close my eyes
In a world far away
We may meet again
But now hear my song
About the dawn of the night
Let's sing the bards' song

[Refrain]
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
                                                                                    Tomorrow will take it away
                                                                                    The fear of today
                                                                                    It will be gone
                                                                                    Due to our magic songs

There's only one song
Left in my mind
Tales of a brave man
Who lived far from here
Now the bard songs are over
And it's time to leave
No one should ask you for the name of the one
Who tells the story

 [Refrain]
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow all will be known
And you're not alone
So don't be afraid
In the dark and cold
'Cause the bards' songs will remain
They all will remain

In my thoughts and in my dreams
They're always in my mind
These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men
And elves
Come close your eyes
You can see them, too

Media Control of Information

If you can take 17 minutes to watch this video, do it. It explains some tricks the media use to change the meaning of a statement made by an interviewee using editing.

Fotography

Yesterday was the day of photography. So, I'm taking the chance to post a photography taken by someone very dear and very special to me:

The photo was taken inside a church (can«t remember the name) on Rome.

This photo was taken by the owner of the wild gypsies blog.

Hipsters go hate somewhere else

Have you ever had a hipster friend? One of those hipsters that goes against everything that's mainstream? They are specially critical when it comes to music. So, this friend of mine  asks "Rolling stones, why do you like them? They're so mainstream, every kid who wants to look well in the eyes of others say he likes stones or led zeppelin"
Bethooven is mainstream too, so is Chopin. Does that mean it's not good?  Bod dylan is mainstream and he's still probably the best song writer ever.
I'll give you fifteen good reasons for liking the rolling stones:

Gimme Shelter
No expectations
Street fighting man
Can't your hear me knocking
Honly tonk woman
Start me up
Beast of burden
Don't stop
Brown Sugar
You got the silver
Just my Imagination
Wild Horses
I got the blues
Sympathy for the devil
Stray Cat Blues

The financial crisis under a simple, yet complete and educated perspective

However, I must say that it's a explanation under a almost marxists perspective that has some flaws. For the most part though, I agree with it. Some of you capitalists may have thoughts against it. Some of them make sense, and are expose in this other video:

The author of this other video has some good points, but , in the end of the video shows that he's just another neo-liberal that isn't really interested in solving the problem.

Little stupid village

Tonight, bored as I was, I went to a traditional festivity in a little village. The music was as lousy as the people that were there. Only my friends saved me from the great potential of boredom the place had.
Three good friends, a couple of drinks, a good talk and Eye of the Tiger.

A good song for a bad night

Something all Citizens of U.S.A. should read

 STOP CUDDLING THE SUPER RICH
by Warren E.Buffet

"OUR leaders have asked for “shared sacrifice.” But when they did the asking, they spared me. I checked with my mega-rich friends to learn what pain they were expecting. They, too, were left untouched.

attract-money.jpg (900×600)While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks. Some of us are investment managers who earn billions from our daily labors but are allowed to classify our income as “carried interest,” thereby getting a bargain 15 percent tax rate. Others own stock index futures for 10 minutes and have 60 percent of their gain taxed at 15 percent, as if they’d been long-term investors.

These and other blessings are showered upon us by legislators in Washington who feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species. It’s nice to have friends in high places.

Last year my federal tax bill — the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf — was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income — and that’s actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent.

If you make money with money, as some of my super-rich friends do, your percentage may be a bit lower than mine. But if you earn money from a job, your percentage will surely exceed mine — most likely by a lot.

To understand why, you need to examine the sources of government revenue. Last year about 80 percent of these revenues came from personal income taxes and payroll taxes. The mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most of their earnings but pay practically nothing in payroll taxes. It’s a different story for the middle class: typically, they fall into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets, and then are hit with heavy payroll taxes to boot.

Back in the 1980s and 1990s, tax rates for the rich were far higher, and my percentage rate was in the middle of the pack. According to a theory I sometimes hear, I should have thrown a fit and refused to invest because of the elevated tax rates on capital gains and dividends.

I didn’t refuse, nor did others. I have worked with investors for 60 years and I have yet to see anyone — not even when capital gains rates were 39.9 percent in 1976-77 — shy away from a sensible investment because of the tax rate on the potential gain. People invest to make money, and potential taxes have never scared them off. And to those who argue that higher rates hurt job creation, I would note that a net of nearly 40 million jobs were added between 1980 and 2000. You know what’s happened since then: lower tax rates and far lower job creation.

Since 1992, the I.R.S. has compiled data from the returns of the 400 Americans reporting the largest income. In 1992, the top 400 had aggregate taxable income of $16.9 billion and paid federal taxes of 29.2 percent on that sum. In 2008, the aggregate income of the highest 400 had soared to $90.9 billion — a staggering $227.4 million on average — but the rate paid had fallen to 21.5 percent.

The taxes I refer to here include only federal income tax, but you can be sure that any payroll tax for the 400 was inconsequential compared to income. In fact, 88 of the 400 in 2008 reported no wages at all, though every one of them reported capital gains. Some of my brethren may shun work but they all like to invest. (I can relate to that.)

I know well many of the mega-rich and, by and large, they are very decent people. They love America and appreciate the opportunity this country has given them. Many have joined the Giving Pledge, promising to give most of their wealth to philanthropy. Most wouldn’t mind being told to pay more in taxes as well, particularly when so many of their fellow citizens are truly suffering.

Twelve members of Congress will soon take on the crucial job of rearranging our country’s finances. They’ve been instructed to devise a plan that reduces the 10-year deficit by at least $1.5 trillion. It’s vital, however, that they achieve far more than that. Americans are rapidly losing faith in the ability of Congress to deal with our country’s fiscal problems. Only action that is immediate, real and very substantial will prevent that doubt from morphing into hopelessness. That feeling can create its own reality.

Job one for the 12 is to pare down some future promises that even a rich America can’t fulfill. Big money must be saved here. The 12 should then turn to the issue of revenues. I would leave rates for 99.7 percent of taxpayers unchanged and continue the current 2-percentage-point reduction in the employee contribution to the payroll tax. This cut helps the poor and the middle class, who need every break they can get.

But for those making more than $1 million — there were 236,883 such households in 2009 — I would raise rates immediately on taxable income in excess of $1 million, including, of course, dividends and capital gains. And for those who make $10 million or more — there were 8,274 in 2009 — I would suggest an additional increase in rate.

My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It’s time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice."

Long Night

Today, my bed doesn't accept me. As such, I've got nowhere to sleep. So here I am, half zombie, 5a.m., waiting for a message that won't come for hours. I remembered something I read a few years back. I'm sorry but I don't remember the author.

"Sorrow or happiness? What does it matter? Everything is living.."

People should think more like that.

London Riots

I found this video when I was searching about the subject, and I think that it really sums up what happened. Initial protests about the incident concerning the police and the young man shot quickly became a way for criminals (those youngsters who pillaged and burnt have no other names) to steal and provoke havoc.

Thylane Lena Rose Blondeau

So, guess what, another preadolescence does a photo shoot with sexual imagery. Not heavy sexual imagery, but, you know, dressed in high heels, heavy make up, big cleavage.. But this time, the model, Thylane Lena Rose Blondeau, is only 10 years old.
The images I'm talking about are the ones displayed in the right and left.

I'm not bothered by the content of the photos. I don't think it has sexual connotations, at least not at a level we should be concerned about. What I'm bothered by is the photos themselves. This parents (and I'm sure this girls does this voluntarily, I'm not arguing that) are taking away their daughter's childhood, and truth to be told, most parents are. Children today are under pressure to grow up too quickly. I our western society, It's not so much because parents want their children to grow up so they can work like it was half a century ago in my country. this days, I blame the end of childhood on the media and celebrity culture. Really, this pictures are the antithesis of what childhood should be, when do we go back to harry potter books, finding worms in the backyard, playing with toys and have that pleasure of ruining clothes with mud?

Urnas e sindicatos

http://caldeiradadeneutroes.blogspot.com/
http://caldeiradadeneutroes.blogspot.com/2007/02/o-papel-reaccionrio-dos-sindicatos.html

Bang Bang

The woman. Do you know her? That woman that changes everyone she meets, that one girl that seems to have some sort of sensual, dangerous aura around her. The femme fatal as it's called.
Mysterious, duplicitous, gorgeous, unreliable, manipulative, thus is described the film noir's femme fatal.
There was only one way to end the story of a male character that got involved with this type of woman, the bad way. Death, tears, sorrow. Like a spider, the woman attracts the male into a web, attacks and then condemns the victim to a slow death.
The other day, someone, a young, and indeed attractive woman, showed me a song that reminds me of the femmes fatals.
Maybe she meant to prophesy my fate?

I leave you with a version of the song, played by the raconteurs, although the original version was sung by Nancy Sinatra. The music was written by Sonny Bono.

Science and Beauty

Science vs the old world, the world of the unknown. Science, It frees us. Each of us, each individual lives as a result of a series of chain events. We were not destined to live, instead, dispite all odds, we breath, we walk, we love. And everything that is good and beautifull should be understood. Science does not take away the beauty. No! It's only adds. We now know that stars are a spinning ballmade  off methane and helium. Does it takes away it's beauty? It does shine the same way, it makes us dream just the same. But now, we know that it is there, we know what it is, it was not imposed by some bearded man in the sky, it was made by chance. And that, that makes it even more impressive, it makes me dream of all the possibilities, it makes me wonder: how can that be? how does nature work?

"Poets say science takes away from the beauty of the stars — mere globs of gas atoms. Nothing is "mere". I too can see the stars on a desert night, and feel them. But do I see less or more? The vastness of the heavens stretches my imagination — stuck on this carousel my little eye can catch one-million-year-old light. A vast pattern — of which I am a part... What is the pattern or the meaning or the why? It does not do harm to the mystery to know a little more about it. For far more marvelous is the truth than any artists of the past imagined it. Why do the poets of the present not speak of it? What men are poets who can speak of Jupiter if he were a man, but if he is an immense spinning sphere of methane and ammonia must be silent?"

We're no longer constrant by the certanty of living in a limited plane, of dying and going somewhere we're destined to. We have both possibilities and dreams. We can know how the world works, how the animals run, and why. Suddenly, we can see every system unraveling around us. You say something is beautiful, and I agree, but a scientist also aprecciates how marvelous is the life of that being, or the complexity of that system.

"I have a friend who's an artist, and he sometimes takes a view which I don't agree with. He'll hold up a flower and say, "Look how beautiful it is," and I'll agree. But then he'll say, "I, as an artist, can see how beautiful a flower is. But you, as a scientist, take it all apart and it becomes dull." I think he's kind of nutty. [...] There are all kinds of interesting questions that come from a knowledge of science, which only adds to the excitement and mystery and awe of a flower. It only adds. I don't understand how it subtracts."

Sharing Music

I don't like the mainstream music nowadays. I could be fatalistic and say that music today will never be as good as it once was, but I would be lying. Most good music has been pushed into the "underground" bands as people call it. I don't search for this bands as I don't have the patience for it, but today I'm going to share some good music from unknown bands.

Troll Hunter and USA

THIS WILL BE A LONG ONE. I came home from the movies a while ago. I went to see Captain America. I'm not proud of it, but my friends went and I was tagged along. Now, the movie is made by Americans to Americans, full of patriotic stuff. I actually got the impression that Americans think they won the WWII by themselves...

Interestingly, I went to piratebay (Give me a break, Yeah, piracy is bad but I spend all the money I can in the movies or buying DVD's, it's not enough to satisfy my desire for movies. Besides, I'm evil).

I found a discussion on one of the comment sections, that showed me Americans are actually as stupid as I feared.

" LuxLOL às 2011-02-05 17:05 CET:

Are the european film makers to stupit to make films in english.

Even if it looks good i will not watch it because it's not in english. "

Of course, this Brought upon Luxlol the wrath of European guys, specially Sweden and Norwegian (it's a Swedish site, and the comment page belongs to a Norwegian movie). They pointed out that English isn't the only language in the world, among other things. Then some other stupid american came along, make your own opinion about his comment:

"kyle10855 às 2011-06-04 04:54 CET:

@ P-dot,

actually the US and it's media ARE the center of the universe....

The US pumps more money through Hollywood than most other countries have in total circulation. No country has a bigger movie bugdet than Hollywood production companies. The fact that you call people ignoranuses for wanting a movie in English is ridiculous. Most movies that get released to theatres worldwide are english movies from America. Don't be such a lame ass. We (Americans, and the rest of the movie loving world) want english movies. Next time you are belittling others and touting your academic prowess, remember you're just a self righteous ass with a chip and a keyboard.

kyle10855 às 2011-06-04 05:04 CET:

@P-dot

and if you haven't been already, try visiting America. Most people that come here never want to leave. Some of the richest, most powerful people in the world live here. The rest of them visit frequently. Almost all never want to leave. That's why our culture is so diverse. It's because behind all national pride and rich history, we actually are the shit. No, seriously, we are literally the greatest nation in the world, and one of the greatest nations that has ever existed. get a fucking clue. You even learn english!!! Why? Out of necessity. Why don't I know yours? because your language doesn't matter. If i lived and died without ever learning it i wouldn't miss a thing. The world DOES revolve around America. Anyone who denies it is an idiot."

After this, reason comes into the discussion again:

"mrmeagain às 2011-06-04 13:27 CET:

@kyle10855
People like you makes me sad, brainwashed since day one and your perspective on the world is totally fucked up.

Yes you have some rich and "powerful" people, but what about the rest 99% ?

You have a fucked up public education system and the social welfare system (if there is one to begin with with) is way beyond helpfull. You have insurance companies who take advantage of the 99% and I could continue like this to make a small book...

If I were you I wouldnt sit there and preach for us what you have been taught (manipulated) since day one, try to open your eyes and maybe it is not to late for you to realize that the world is bigger than US&A.

The $ comes before the person in your so called utopia. I rather live in any other places than yours where i can think freely without having this propagande brainwashed into my head."

"kyle10855 às 2011-06-05 09:18 CET:

@ mrmeagain

YOU FEEL SORRY FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME??? with all the disparity in the world, the american with an opinion is what pulls on your heartstrings!!!!! I appreciate your concern.

I am brainwashed??? I don't have the first clue about what I'm talking about? America is such a terrible place??? Hey!!! I have an idea, next time you're online trolling for more American movies why don't you google American inventors. Since I'm such a dumb American pig, why don't you print off all the pages of information on them. I could never figure that out! I'll tell you what, if you could pick up the stack of paper 2 inches off the ground I'll admit i'm wrong. We should Skype this!!!! people could tune in to see if your up to the challenge of HOLDING all the pages written about great American inventors!!!! We can post the video and live feed information here. Oh! and when you can't, i'll be there to chime in with a well placed "On behalf of all Americans, you're welcome for most great advancements in the last 300 years".

It's literally been a non stop ride since 1776 carrying the entire world. And Americans rarely complain about donating more food to third world countries, sending aide to places like haiti, japan, etc, and putting up with the rest of the world's problems.

OPEN MY EYES??? Why don't you!!!! America is a great country and you are an uneducated idiot. Welfare system? You're saying we don't give enough to the poor?????? And THAT'S why we are so uncivilized???? because we don't give enough to the poor???? Are you fucking serious??? We give enough. There will always be poor people, ALWAYS. that's the world. What Dr Suess book did you study economics from???"

kyle10855 às 2011-06-05 09:59 CET:

You know what?! I'm sorry, I've been going about this the wrong way. I should have started with a 'You're Welcome"............You're Welcome for.......

Vehicle Airbags, artificial neurons, pacemakers, automatic vehicle transmissions, electron emission microscopy, barcodes, the bathysphere, bifocals, black lights, breakfast cereal, bubblegum, bulldozers, C (high level programming language), cash registers, cigarettes, coca-cola, cotton candy, cotton swabs, crayons, credit cards, dental floss, direct current, electric guitars, electrophotography, email, equatorial sextants, escalators, ethernet, fax, the ferris wheel, fire sprinklers, flashlights, gas lasers, global positioning systems, hypertexts, holographic drives, industrial robots, integrated circuits, THE INTERNET, jeans, k-y jelly, kinetoscopes, lambda calculus, laser printers, light-emitting diodes (LED's), lightning rods, liquid crystal displays (LCD's), Magnetic strips, microprocessors, microwave ovens, nanoimprint lithography, nanolasers, napalm, neutron bombs, nuclear power plants, nuclear submarines, Nylon, obsidian hydration systems, oil wells, optical mouse, particle accelerators, personal computers, photosensitive glass, plasma displays, the QWERTY keyboard, radar guns, radiocarbon dating, acoustic microscopes, segways, shopping carts, solar cells, water fuel cells, supermarkets, tasers, tea bags, teddy bears, telephones, ticker tape, traffic cones, transistors, twist ties, typewriters, UBV photometric system, etc.......

Next time you warm something up in a microwave, remember to thank the Red, White and Blue for all we've given you."

AT THIS POINT A FELLOW AMERICAN SAYS:

j0naht às 2011-06-11 14:08 CET:

@kyle You are embarrassing yourself and other americans by saying ignorant things. Remember what you say on the internet will probably be there forever. The pirate bay is a Swedish website. We cannot have sites like this in America because the american movie and recording industry owns our politicians, so have some respect if you are going to use a swedish site to download free movies. If it weren't for the people and ideas of the rest of the world, america would not be the country it is today. Our entire space program came from German scientists. I love my country too, but I know the united states is not the best at everything. Be humble my friend. We have a lot yet to learn from the rest of the world as we always have, and they have some things to learn from us as well. Looking forward to watching this movie!

Finally SOME REASON. THE DISCUSSION GOES ON; BUT A COMMENT Summarizes WELL MY FINAL OPINION:

Danzk às 2011-07-09 02:16 CET:

@kyle

Did you even realize while listing up all the "American gifts to the world" how wrong you are in many of those cases, and that a vast majority of your listed inventions aren't really anything to be proud of (i.e. napalm, cotton candy, cigarettes) due to being of negative nature to human society and/or the environment.

Also, the US health care, education, legislation, taxation law (i.e. import and export law), government spending, racial, religious and sexual "parity", barriers for private entrepreneurs, government intervention in environmental issues (and so forth) lack stability and are very inefficient in many cases, but most importantly they are unfair and have a severe lack of general planning and logic. These are few of the reasons why many countries such as the Nordic countries have a higher standard of living that the United States. And as comes to e.g. the Swedish system with free education and healthcare, reasonable direct taxation, government welfare etc. I see no reason for arguing why the United States of America is based on a superior foundation than many other nations in the world.

I prefer living in a country which cares for its citizens; where succeeding isn't impossible and where your tax money is an investment for your children's full education and your family's potential future illnesses. Rather than living in a country which exploits its citizens monetarily for every choice they make, for every misfortune they happen to be exposed to.

It could be a very educational experience for you to visit another country, stay there for a year or so, try to learn the language, try to understand the system, the culture, the history and heritage, and make new friends.

For narrow-minded, stubborn people like yourself it might be difficult and possibly frightening to learn to accept that the system within which you live, is not the greatest in the world, although your glorious nation is powerful and a vast contributor to modern technological advancements, that I don't deny."

THE COMMENT SECTION REFERRED TO A GREAT NORWEGIAN MOVIE, TROLL HUNTER.

I LEAVE THE TRAILER BELLOW:

quarta-feira, 3 de agosto de 2011

A small metallic treat for all of you who might be reading this.
I love classical music as much as anything that has a good guitar tune, and as such I leave you with two of my favorite musical compositions, each representing a different musical genre.

Happiness, god and my cat

My cat keeps looking at me. "Stop it". He doesn't. Cat's are the antithesis of dogs. They do want they want, whenever they want. I'm glad he doesn't looks away, I'm glad he decided to sit on my lap. I find myself smiling, I feel a tenderness for this animal, for my silent companion. I feel.. happy. How can I? Somewhere right now, someone is being raped, killed, robbed, sodomized, forgotten. With so much unfairness and disgrace throughout the world, It took only the sight of a cat to make me feel good. I guess that's the way our mind works, I guess only god can find no rest, no happiness, only god can't be selfish. Which leads to the eternal question, does that god cares about us? No, he, if he even exists, cares about nothing, forever neutral, that is his curse.

Avenue of Hope

Sunday I got home from the hospital. I put my companion, a random book, on the top of the secretary. Went downstairs into the living room, turn on the TV, another bomber, another tax increase. While I shower, under the water, I feel alone.
The scotch should do the trick. Fuck, there's no scotch, only bourbon. So be it. There's only one song that can help me now, only a though, a though that maybe, just maybe, we can build a better world. The song is called Avenue of Hope.

2083-Manifesto

Fica abaixo o apelo do grupo:

Impulso
